At 23 years old, Ja Morant is already one of the NBA’s most recognizable faces. He just came off a MIP-campaign season where he averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. Don’t be surprised if he’s going to be in the MVP conversation in just his 4th year in the league. Because of his flashy yet effective game, you may wonder, “What shoes does Ja Morant wear?”

To be honest, it’s a minor surprise that Morant still doesn’t have a signature shoe at this point. If he continues his rise to superstardom, that should come sooner rather than later. This article will provide a timeline of the Ja Morant shoes he wears throughout his young career.

What is Ja Morant's Shoe SizeWhat is Ja Morant’s Shoe Size?

In an exchange with a fan that asked him this question on Twitter, Morant said his shoe size is 11. So there you have it, straight from the goat’s mouth: Ja Morant shoe size is 11.

Considering that Ja is 6-foot-3, those kicks are a bit small than most people his height. According to estimates, a 6-foot-3 person most likely wears a size 13 shoe and bigger. That being said, it probably contributes to his insane athleticism and gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “light on his feet.”

What Kind of Shoes Does Ja Morant WearWhat Kind of Shoes Does Ja Morant Wear?

Ja Morant primarily wears Nike shoes, mainly the ones that are light and made for lightning-quick guards. The Ja Morant shoes deal with Nike happened before the NBA Draft in 2019, and from then on, he was seen wearing shoes from different Nike signature models. He was seen wearing the Adapt BBs, Kobe Protros, older Kobe models, Kyries, and KDs.

According to some sneaker pundits at Sole Retriever, Morant is set to receive his own Nike sigs in the summer of 2023. However, on Christmas Day of 2022, Morant surprised fans by announcing the release of his first signature shoe with Nike, the “Ja 1”. In a tweet, Morant revealed that the Nike Ja1 shoe will be available globally starting in April 2023.

In honor of #12, here are a dozen of the best in-game shoes worn by Ja Morant.

1. Kobe 8

The Kobe 8 is not only one of the best low-top shoes; it’s one of the best shoes ever made, period. Its traction is incredible, perfect even, and its overall build is made for quick guards like Morant. That’s why it wasn’t a big surprise when Ja showed up to a game wearing the Kobe 8s

2. Kobe 6 Protro “12”

Speaking of No. 12, Morant donned the “12” PE of the Kobe Protro on February 28, 2022, against the San Antonio Spurs. He brought the entire arsenal in the game- a logo 3, an insane poster, and a buzzer-beater- to a career-high 52 points.

3. KD 4 “N7”

Ja was also seen wearing KDs, and it would seem like his favorite was the older KD 4s. He wore at least two colorways– the N7 and Easter. The N7 (shown above) was a pretty interesting pair as it was part of the Nike N7 collection paying homage to Native Americans. What about the KD 4 “Easter?” Well, the Grizzlies did blow out Orlando, 135-115, in that game, with Morant putting Robin Lopez in a body bag with a signature poster.

4. Kyrie Low 4 “1 World 1 People”

Ja sported the Kyrie 4 “1 World 1 People” in only the second game of the season. This colorway is a general release, so it’s cool to see Morant playing in a pair that other basketball and sneaker fans can wear.

5. Kobe 9 Elite

Going away from the low and mid tops, Morant wore the Kobe 9 Elite in the 2020-21 season after sustaining an ankle injury. Morant started with the Kobe 9 Elite hightops, the first shoe that featured Flyknit, and wore it 14 times. It has a Lunarlon midsole like the Kobe 8s, and its pressure-mapped rubber outsole pattern provides some of the best traction of any shoe.

6. Nike Adapt BB

Morant was wearing the Adapt BB, a self-lacing shoe, for most of the 2019-20 season. It’s the third shoe model from Nike that featured self-lacing technology after the MAG and HyperAdapt. The idea of the tech was to adapt the shoe to your feet in any situation. For example, you can tighten the shoes automatically using the Adapt App during games and loosen them up during timeouts.

7. KD 4 “Scoring Title”

It’s not uncommon for players to switch shoes at halftime after a bad start. Morant did just that in a close game against the Golden State Warriors on October 28, 2021. He scored “only” 7 points after 24 minutes, but the Grizzles pulled off a 104-101 OT win after the sneaker change. He ended up with 30. The “Scoring Title” colorway was released after Kevin Durant secured his second scoring title in 2012.

8. Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Memphis Blue PE” and “Kay Yow”

The Kobe 6 Protros are regulars among Ja’s vast collection of sneakers, and aside from the “12” colorway, the Memphis Blue Player exclusives and the “Kay Yow” are some of the best-looking ones. Ja wore the Memphis Blue in a December 20, 2021, loss against OKC and in a win against the Lakers on January 9, 2022.

Morant wore the “Kay Yow” colorway on December 2, 2021, in a dominating 152-79 win against the Thunder, but unfortunately, the appearance was short-lived. Ja did not play in the game but warmed up in “Kay Yow” Kobe 6 Protros.

9. Nike Air Zoom GT Run “All Star PE”

As its name suggests, Morant wore the All-Star PE of the Air Zoom GT Run in his first All-Star game. He played 18 minutes and scored six points, but four came from sick alley-oops to showcase his aerial artistry.

10. Kobe 5 Protro “Chaos”

Morant wore the “Chaos” Kobe 5 Protro in his rookie season. He pulled off a pretty impressive crossover against the Clippers’ Jerome Robinson wearing this pair. Ja ended with 22 points and nine dimes, and ultimately a 26-point win over the Clips.

11. Kobe 9 Low

Aside from the high-top Elite, Morant also included the Kobe 9 low in his rotation. It’s hard to pinpoint in which game he wore the 9 Lows, but this post is the definitive proof.

12. Kobe 1 Protro

The Kobe 1 Protro was part of the high-top shoes in Ja Morant Kobe shoes rotation after the ankle injury. The Kobe 1 Protro contains a full-length Zoom sole for maximum explosiveness, and the herringbone pattern on the sole sticks to the floor, allowing Ja to attack with precision. He did wear this pair in a March 2, 2021 game against the Wizards, and he surgically dismantled Washington to the tune of 35 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds.

Wrapping Things Up: What Shoes Does Ja Morant Wear?

Ja Morant is on the way to superstardom, and the 2022-23 season could just cement him as a perennial MVP candidate. Surprisingly, he doesn’t have a signature shoe yet, although rumors say it may well be in the works and due to be released next year.

What shoes does Ja Morant wear during games? Since he is signed with Nike, he apparently goes with the swoosh products. He was seen wearing Kobes, KDs, and Kyries, plus other models such as the BB Adapt and the GT Run. If he truly is going to have a signature shoe, that’s definitely something that sneaker and basketball fans will look forward to.
