Rosen Talks About “Crazy Basketball”

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of reading Charley Rosen’s latest book “Crazy Basketball.” It’s a collection of his stories from playing and coaching and it was a book I had a tough time putting down due to some great history involving the game of basketball and a bunch of great humor.

This week I had the chance to talk with Charley about a bunch of things in his book like his chance to play against Wilt Chamberlain back when he was still in high school; the impact Phil Jackson has had on his life on and off the court; he shared the story of getting Jerry West, Phil Jackson and “Red” Auerbach to recommend him for a coaching job despite never having met West; why he thinks Phil Jackson will return for at least one more as a head coach in the NBA and he reminisced about his first practice for the Camden Bullets in the Eastern League and how there was no heat in the US Infantry Armory where the practice took place.
