Catching Up With Vince Carter

Confession: I’ve always been a fan of Vince Carter.

Sure, the way he left Toronto stung a little, but it’s been nine years and I’ve gotten over it. However, it appears that fans in Toronto haven’t. Last night boos rained down on Carter like thunder every time he touched the ball. Sitting in the gondola listening to this all unfold all I could think about is how great it would be to have Carter return for a season to mentor Toronto’s younger players and allow the fans to get over their hurt and anger.

After the game I was able to talk with him about becoming a veteran leader, how he is mentoring OJ Mayo, how much he loved his time playing for Toronto and the possibility of getting his number retired.

I attempted to ask him about returning for a season to mentor Toronto’s young players and fix things with fans, but he misheard my question.
