In The Scrum With Chris Bosh
This has been a frustrating season for Chris Bosh as he’s battled through nagging injuries, the team hasn’t gelled like many had anticipated, there’s been constant talk about what he’ll do in the summer of 2010 and now there is a growing chance this team might fail to make the playoffs.
As anyone who has had the chance to interact with Bosh knows, the one the thing that drives him crazy is losing. Luckily for his sanity the Raptors have now won four of their past six games and appear to have a fighting chance of sneaking into the playoffs this season.
After a recent win against Minnesota Timberwolves, the face of the Toronto Raptors talked with the media about the argument he had with Brian Cardinal during the first half, how big this win was, what the team has to do to sneak into the playoffs and a host of other topics.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy some insight into Chris Bosh.
Reporter: It was a rough start tonight but you guys seemed to pull it around in the second quarter.
Chris Bosh: We obviously want to get off to good starts but sometimes that doesn’t happen and tonight we didn’t panic. We just keep playing the kind of game we want to play. People were making shots and I think we were letting that dictate our defense a little bit. We woke up after and got things going.
Reporter: It seemed to be a bit of a chippy game as well as aggression levels were pretty high. Do you think that added a bit of a spark at all?
Bosh: Yeah, we have to realize that nice guys sit at home and watch the playoffs. That’s just how I feel, and maybe I’m wrong, but if you play with intensity then you are more likely to win and you are more likely to play better basketball. We’re just trying to be intense. My whole thing is to challenge everyone to be intense, do everything with passion, and just get the job done. No excuses. If you’re tired suck it up and keep playing basketball until we win.
Reporter: You talked earlier about intensity. Was the little face-to-face with Brian (Cardinal)…
Bosh: That wasn’t nothing. I don’t accept people yelling in my face. I don’t do that to other people so I expect the same thing in return.
Reporter: Is that kind of incident the kind of thing that can dial up the intensity?
Bosh: Yeah, I mean if people want to take it there that’s fine. I’ve played like that all my life so it really doesn’t really change anything in terms of my playing. But I’m going to turn it up and if guys do that I hope they’re ready to handle where it’s going to go.
Reporter: Offensively, you seem to be back in your rhythm.
Bosh: Yeah, I feel like it, too. My legs are fine. It’s good getting back into a rhythm which just comes from playing more basketball against the Knicks twice. They want to run, we want to run, and over those two games I kind of got my legs back because it was like a track meet out there. I’m feeling a little better and even though we’re trying to push the ball I’m going to pick my spots and try to take advantage when I can.
Reporter: How does the last two wins and the new style of play help carry the momentum on the road trip you’re about to go on?
Bosh: It’s very important. I’m glad we could win two games in a row going into this trip because we need a lot of momentum right now. Hopefully we can ride out this wave and impose our will on every court we play on during this road trip.
