Toronto Not Content After A Big Win thumbnail

You would think Toronto would be in the mood to celebrate after a big win against Cleveland, right? Not a chance.

Despite pulling off an upset that is sure to catch the attention of the rest of the NBA, the players and coaching staff brushed off the win as the first of many during a grueling 82-game schedule.

Davis Needs To Choose His Path thumbnail

Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals was supposed to be the turning point in Glen Davis’ career. When he hit that game winner, ran down the sideline and rejoiced triumphantly on Orlando’s home court, Davis no longer went by the name Big Baby, but simply Glen. It was a moment in the sun, a coming out party of sorts for a player who had officially gained the respect of both his coaches and veteran teammates.

Now, thanks to an unfortunate mistake, Davis faces a different kind of turning point. If it weren’t for the fact he’s about to begin just his third season, you might even call it a crossroads.

After averaging 15.0 points and 6.9 rebounds over 33.9 minutes per game, you’d think Rasheed Wallace would have signed with a team this summer that provided him with an opportunity to start.

Not Wallace, he’s just searching for a chance to win some more Championship bling and is more than happy to do that by providing a spark off the bench. Just call him the next Robert Horry.

Washington Wizards Season Preview thumbnail

Last year I picked the Wizards to go 41-41, and injuries and a coaching change pretty much derailed me from the start. This year, despite the Jamison setback, I think the Wizards will return to their 2005-2008 “heyday” and come out with a 43-39 record, which will be good enough to make the playoffs and play the Cavs once again.

Perception Is Reality With Isiah Thomas thumbnail

Isiah Thomas is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He surely ranks among the best point guards in history, and anyone who ever watched him play can attest that few players have ever played with more fire and spirit than the former Piston legend.

Based on his career on the basketball court, we should collectively think about Thomas as an iconic figure and one of the true luminaries of his sport.

But we don’t. When we contemplate all that is Isiah Thomas, more often then not the former star comes up miserably short.

Last Sunday I walked into the Raptors locker room before the game to see Jarrett Jack talking with Sonny Weems about what he’ll do on the defensive end based on specific offensive sets the Wizards run.

This kind of tutelage wasn’t a one time thing.

Few Players Are Tougher Than Hudson thumbnail

Taken with the Celtics lone pick in the 2009 NBA draft, 58th overall, Lester Hudson was a long shot to make the Celtics deep, veteran savvy roster. Even with a strong need for a backup point guard, it’s an uphill battle for any late round draft pick to make the roster.

Hudson, however, is no normal late round draft pick. This proved to be evident when earlier this month Boston made the decision to sign their rookie to a one-year non guaranteed deal.
