Exclusive Interview With Maurizio Gherardini thumbnail

While the Raptors stole most of the headlines in Toronto this summer due to the teams flurry of roster moves, it was the Canadian National Team that stole the hearts of basketball fans. When the team left for Puerto Rico few fans cared about the team but once they returned with a third place finish in the FIBA America’s Tournament the team was the talk of the country.

One of the many men behind the scenes responsible for assembling the team, Maurizio Gherardini, took some time to talk with Hoops Addict about what the plans are for the team leading up to the World Championships next summer.

Exclusive Interview With Marcus Banks

This summer Marcus Banks seemed to be a lightning rode for controversy and speculation. Between not playing in Las Vegas for the Raptors to being rumored as part of a deal involving the Dallas Mavericks, the veteran combo guard seemed to continually see his name in the newspaper for all the wrong reasons.

Because of that during the Raptors media day on Monday he was one of the players I targeted to talk with about what went down this summer.

Banks had a grin from ear-to-ear as he got the chance to explain the truth behind why he didn’t participate in Las Vegas, rumors about him being dealt to Dallas and his goals for the upcoming season.

What were you doing when you were nine years old? Austin Gutwein started a program that has raised more than $1 million to help children in Africa who have lost their parents to AIDS.

Talk about stepping up and making good use of your time instead of wasting countless hours playing video games.

I recently had a chance to speak with his father, Dan Gutwein, about how Hoops of Hope got started, the amazing success it’s had over the past five years and the book his son Austin is about to release.
