An Instant Classic

I didn’t want to write anything about last night, hence the reason why this is being posted so late.
I opened up a word document on about a dozen different occasions between late last night and this morning. I even sat there, my lunch at my desk and the little cursor just blinking on my computer [...]

Hawks Not Concerned With Making Friends

The game was well in hand, but Atlanta’s Josh Smith wanted to leave his mark on the night with the dunk that made Isaiah Rider famous in the 1994 Slam Dunk Contest.
And he missed. Then the Miami Heat began to complain about it.
Was Smith showing up the Heat? Or was he just enjoying himself in [...]

Rondo, Celtics Do What It Takes

“Ouch!”
That was the reaction heard in the entire building where I was watching the Bulls and Celtics battle for what seemed like the 18th time this month. If you watched the game or saw the highlights, you know what I’m talking about.
Rajon Rondo went Muhammad Ali on Brad Miller’s face and caught the center with [...]

Fast Breaks – NBA Playoffs

With the playoffs well underway, I figured I’d drop a few thoughts on each series as things begin to heat up. I’ll try to do this as often as possible, but I can promise you nothing as the weather is getting warm (unless you live in Toronto like Ryan, eh?) and that makes sitting in [...]

Bursting Boston’s Bubble

That sound you just heard? That was the Boston Celtics chances at repeating exploding after head coach Doc Rivers announced that Kevin Garnett might be missing the playoffs.
Sorry Boston, but expect to be pushed to the limit by the Chicago Bulls. For a team that feeds off of defense and Garnett’s enthusiasm, this is a [...]

You’re a professional basketball player and you’re making money playing a sport you love.
You just handed the defending NBA Champions an embarrassing loss on your homecourt.
You’re in your mid 20’s and on the bench with some of your closest friends.
Music starts playing during a timeout and you start enjoying the victory and your 60-win season [...]

Assuming the Knicks keep David Lee or Nate Robinson, that is a solid core of returning players to work with as they will then turn their attention to June and the NBA Draft. Maybe it’ll be 1985 all over again and the Knicks grab the first overall pick and change the face of their franchise. Admit it, Blake Griffin would look pretty good in orange and blue. If not, there are a handful of guys that can help the team moving forward.

A Day of Loyalty

A Day of Loyalty thumbnail

Wednesday was an odd day if you were a fan of the UConn Huskies. With a handful of friends letting me know their thoughts on the situation, I never let that bother me. Collecting my thoughts on the entire situation, there is no way I won’t continue to be loyal to the program that has brought many of my most memorable moments in sports.

Brothers, most of the time, get along and motive each other to be better. In terms of the NBA, the Thompson brothers are quietly putting in the work to become the next set of siblings to hit the NBA scene. And I bet there were a lot of people that didn’t even realize that Jason, the starting power forward for the Kings, has a brother trying to join him in the League.

I hate to compare them to a children’s story, but the New York Knicks are starting to resemble The Little Engine That Could.
