This spring, the Pistons will not make the playoffs for the third consecutive season – the first time that’s happened since the mid -1990s. It pains me to write it, but by the next the Pistons enter the postseason it will have been (at least) five years since their last playoff win in 2008.

Brandon Knight’s magnificent start to the season begs the question: Should he start at point guard for the Pistons? Right now the answer seems to be “no”, according to head coach Lawrence Frank.

Love him or hate him, Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey has been re-signed to a 3-year, $25 million deal.

That 2004 Detroit type of defensive prowess is simply unheard of these days due to factors like the abolishment of the hand-checking rule and a multitude of hyper-athletic guards entering the league. But my, how the Pistons’ defense has fallen in recent years. Last season the Pistons ranked No. 28 overall in defensive efficiency. In 2009-10, that ranking was No. 24, and in 2008-09 it was No. 16.
