Brandon Jennings is averaging just 18 minutes of playing time per night. Had he made a different decision, he could be playing at Connecticut, Kansas or USC, as each school offered him a scholarship. It appears that Jennings made a big mistake.

Sure, the Heels will be a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, but smooth sailing to the Final Four can no longer be assumed. This team, however, is littered with future NBA players, forcing the question – what, if anything, is wrong with North Carolina?

West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins wouldn’t come right out and say how much he loved it, but there was little doubt that he did. Huggins’ West Virginia Mountaineers stomped into Columbus a couple of days after Christmas and hung a 28-point smack down on the 13th-ranked Buckeyes on OSU’s home court.

Butler Continues To Impress thumbnail

Someone in the Horizon League should tell head coach Brad Stevens that his Butler Bulldogs are not supposed to be this good. Maybe someone in the Top 20 should tell him, before Butler sneaks up on college basketball’s elite teams and wipes them aside, much as the Bulldogs have cleaned up their opponents so far in the young 2008-09 campaign.

Cleveland Could Benefit From Trading LeBron James thumbnail

The headline would shock the sports world: “The Cleveland Cavaliers Trade Megastar LeBron James.” Is it even imaginable? Before saying that the notion of Cleveland shipping King James is incomprehensible, the issue merits some serious consideration, especially when you factor in the dilemma the Cavaliers face in two years, when James becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Cleveland State Shedding its Anonymity thumbnail

In the classic movie, Major League, a comedy about the hapless Cleveland Indians, there is a hilarious dinner party scene.  The team’s catcher, portrayed by Tom Berenger, is asked by one of the guests what he does for a living.  When he explains that he is a player for the Indians, an elegant elderly woman replies, “Here in Cleveland?  I didn’t know they still had a team.”  That moment helps define the team’s futility and near anonymity – a concept that is critical to the success of the film. Cleveland State University Vikings could very easily star in a similar movie.
