Earlier this month I had the pleasure of chatting with writer and coach Tony Price. He brings a lot of passion to his head coaching position at Simmons College and decided to write a book about his experiences. The book, “An Unsung Coach Hears Through The Noise Of A Black Athlete’s Dream,” was one I enjoyed reading and I was fortunate enough to secure an interview with him to talk about it.
Some of the topics we covered during our chat include:
* His motivation for writing this book
* How he managed to juggle his responsibilities as a college administrator, coach and writer
* The impact winning an Unsung Hero Award as a child had on the rest of his life
* Things young coaches can do to make coaching a career
* The importance of adults to show high school athletes that if you don’t make the NBA there are still plenty of ways to stay involved with the game they love
* He talks in depth about his chapter on the value of having a mentor
