HERZOGENAURACH, Germany – adidas today announced the ninth annual adidas EUROCAMP will showcase the best international basketball players in the only officially sanctioned NBA pre-draft camp outside of the United States. Held in Treviso, Italy June 11-13, the three-day camp brings the best young players together with former and current NBA coaches and players.

“As an international player it’s not easy to get the recognition needed to play in the NBA,” said Serge Ibaka, Oklahoma City Thunder forward-center and 2008 EUROCAMP participant. “EUROCAMP gave me the opportunity to showcase my abilities to the right audience and help make my dreams of playing in the NBA come true.”

More than 30 early entries and draft eligible participants will play in this year’s camp including appearances of top rated first-round 2011 NBA Draft prospects Bismack Biyombo (Republic of Congo), Davis Bertans (Latvia), Donatas Motiejunas (Lithuania) and Lucas Nogueira (Brazil).

“adidas EUROCAMP is the premier international basketball pre-draft camp and we’re excited to host the league’s next stand out players,” said Lawrence Norman, adidas vice president of Global Basketball. “As we’re watching in the NBA Playoffs right now, international players continue to make an immediate impact in the league and we’re proud to showcase that talent before this year’s draft.”

Former adidas EUROCAMP participants include 48 first and second round NBA Draft picks and 75 NBA players including Danilo Gallinari (Denver Nuggets) Nicolas Batum (Portland Trail Blazers) and Andrea Bargnani (Toronto Raptors). Seventeen former EUROCAMP participants currently hold NBA contracts, 33 players participated in the 2010 FIBA World Championship and 58 currently play in Euroleague Basketball.

adidas EUROCAMP 2010 included appearances by former NBA legends Larry Bird, Detlef Schrempf and Jack Sikma as well as current NBA standouts Rodney Stuckey (Detroit Pistons) and Nicolas Batum. Several NBA and Euroleague Basketball coaches will participate at this year’s camp including Kenny Atkinson (New York Knicks), Dennis Lindsey (San Antonio Spurs), John Welch (Denver Nuggets) and Vincent Collet (French National Basketball Team) as well as ESPN global basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla.

Special guests at this year’s camp include Dwight Howard, Spanish National Basketball Team head coach Sergio Scariolo and the Croatia and Serbia Under-19 Men’s Basketball National Teams.

adidas EUROCAMP will be held at La Ghirada Sports Complex – “SportCity” in Treviso, Italy.
